Hello, How do you hire an employee. I want to hire one drive but it is more than 8 hr. work. Do I pay /hr. or /trip? Or is it better, to hire 2 par time? your answer is hilly appreciated,

Hello, What about paying per trip? I heard it is better and you don't have to worry about over time but still you have to provide workman comp.

Many answers depend on which state you are in, more than anything else. In TX, you do not have to provide workman's comp, however if anything happens, your company, instead of you, can be sued if you set up as an LLC, and your personal assets are off limits.
As for overtime (>8hrs in a day) it usually works that if your driver consistently works < 30hrs in a week, someone can work up to (I believe) 10 hr without overtime.
Each state has an agency to walk you through the rules, and there are county and municipal advocates and ombudsman's offices to assist with the particulars, and a good bank (I use BA) can set you up with payroll services as well. I also use WaveApps.com for cloud-based access to payroll and accounting services.

I'm starting my company and I plan to hire my drivers PRN. They work when there are rides needed. We will see how this works/
