Hello, my wife and I have started an NEMT company just north of Houston.
I am curious on how you began getting the word out, with the focus on "as inexpensively as possible". Yes, I know it is a double-edged sword, that in order to get business, I should advertise, however until we get business, it is difficult to justify the expenses incurred in advertising.
So this is what I just recently started doing.
I am going to dialysis centers and asking for the social workers, and giving a nice handout and a few copies of my business card to them, offering that they now have another option for their patient's transportation needs (and soon to similar centers -- senior living, doc offices, dentists, etc., with similarly-crafted and personalized 'elevator speeches') .
The discussion usually goes to what kind of billing and insurance options and payment and cost options I have available.
After I answer their questions, as I am about to leave, if I feel we've built a rapport, I kinda' tilt in toward them and say "Look, I've been a CNA and phlebotomist for years now, and I know you get into a jam on occasion. So just to get my rolling billboard out there [design on van] and to pass out my cards and work with the communities I'll be serving, if you get into a jam and I can do it, I'd be happy to help you out of a pickle." The lady I met yesterday, with one of the largest dialysis centers in America, said "I could have used you 2 weeks ago!" My response was immediate: "The next time 2 weeks ago happens, I want to hear your voice." She smiled and I knew I had a partner.
Other than ongoing vis-à-vis, does anyone have any ideas for me?
I am new to this and open to (inexpensive) suggestions.
Thanks.
